Can meditation really make you a better person? With the "mindfulness movement" quickly spreading in the wake of optimistic scientific and psychological studies, it's important to step back and look at a wider perspective. After all, many people dip their toes into the pool of contemplation, say at their local meditation center or following an online course, only to give up after a few attempts when they feel like "it's not working."

Meditation can help in many ways, and provide incredible insights into consciousness, but there are some things about ourselves that just can't be "hacked." Yet, by understanding the brain's internal reactions and how they affect our emotions and other patterns, we'll be able to prevent acting out on those ancient impulses.
