**Note: As of March 20, the in-person retreat is on hold. In the next couple days, an announcement will go out as to whether or not this will be offered as a Zoom event instead.
March 28 2020, Half-Day Meditation Retreat: Silent & Unguided
Registration instructions are at the bottom of this page
Time and Date:
9:30 am to 12:30 pm, March 28, Saturday
Location:
Mayu Sanctuary
1804 S. Pearl St., Denver 80210
Who can attend?
Description:
There is a particularly supportive quality when meditating in a cohesive group, and a palpable depth to the atmosphere. In group retreat, our minds are able to enter more deeply into peaceful, spacious, intuitive and insightful states of awareness.
Sean will not be giving a talk or doing any verbal guiding. This will give meditators the opportunity to strengthen their independence and self-trust as they wade into the deep waters of their own minds.
Sean's role will be as time-keeper for each period. This is a silent retreat, meaning that there will be no talking of any kind from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, inside or outside the meditation room.
We will divide the retreat into 45 minute periods of sitting/lying down practice and 15 minutes of walking meditation. Sean will stick around afterward for any individual questions people have once the practice period is completed.
Beginners who want the support of Sean's guided instructions are welcome to download the MP3 tracks from Sean's free online meditation course, and listen to them using headphones during the 45 minute portions. There will be no listening during the walking meditation.
Any practices which create noise or distraction are not permitted. Everyone will either be sitting or lying down reasonably still when not doing walking meditation.
To preserve the group coherence, it is important that you commit to staying for the entire period and not leave early. Therefore, this is recommended for people who know from past experience that they'll be able to practice for that length of time without any issues.
What to Bring and Wear:
Loose, comfortable clothing. Cushions and chairs will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you'd like.
*Please do NOT wear perfume or have any kind of smoke in your clothing.
Fee:
*Your first workshop at Mayu includes a lifetime Supporting membership. Payment for classes and workshops allows you to enjoy Mayu’s meditation den, library, and Japanese garden at no extra cost. Let your class be part of a longer self-care experience!
Sean teaches in a way that is free of dogma or religious overlay, thus making the material universally accessible. He values techniques that bring positive results, and presents them in a format that people can understand regardless of their own background or religious upbringing. Sean is known for his warmth and sense of humor as well as his wealth of knowledge regarding consciousness-development. His ultimate priority is to offer tools for people to empower themselves and see that they already have everything they need inside of them.
